Qualifications Manager

We currently have two permanent and two fixed term Qualifications Manager opportunities available.  These are full time (37 hours per week) however requests for alternative working patterns, including part-time and job share may be discussed at interview.

The fixed term roles are contracted for up to four years from appointment and as a result of additional time limited work associated with qualifications reform.  There may be a possibility of permanency.

Band 4 – Salary range £37,600 - £44,950 per annum

In addition to salary we offer 30 days annual leave (alongside public holidays and up to three days office closure at Christmas), flexible working arrangements and membership of the Civil Service Pension Scheme.

This appointment will initially be made to the Qualifications Policy and Reform Directorate and the successful candidates will initially lead on key projects relating to the review and reform of vocational and technical qualifications in Wales. This work is high profile and influential. Qualifications Managers will play a lead role in qualifications review and reform projects and programmes.

It involves high level engagement with employers, employer bodies, subject and professional experts, learning providers and awarding bodies. The postholder(s) will take a lead role in developing and defining our expectations and requirements for new qualifications, in procuring and managing contracts for the development of those qualifications and in ensuring that, once developed, the qualifications are fit for purpose and that learning providers are well-prepared to offer them.

Senior Qualifications Manager

Fixed term, full time. 

This role is fixed term for up to four years from appointment and as a result of additional time limited work associated with qualifications reform.  There may be a possibility of permanency.

Band 5 £48,650 - £58,185 per annum

We offer 30 days annual leave (in addition to public holidays and up to three days office closure at Christmas), flexible working arrangements and membership of the Civil Service Pension Scheme.

The Senior Qualifications Managers (SQM) will work closely with the Directors of Qualifications Policy and Reform to develop, embed and delivery key aspects of Qualifications Wales’ strategy for vocational and general qualifications.

The post-holder will be responsible for developing strategic policy proposals and for drafting and editing high-profile reports and proposals in a public policy context.  They will lead on developing and delivering key aspects of Qualifications Wales approach themselves, securing support and buy-in from senior management and managing contributions from a range of internal and external stakeholders.  The SQM will also act as a senior point of contact and representative for the organisation.

Office Assistant – Corporate Governance

Band 1 £19,240 - £22,500 per annum

As part of the Corporate Governance team, the key purpose of the Corporate Governance Assistant is to provide high quality, consistent and timely administrative support to the organisation’s governance structure, and the Executive Directors. The postholder will plan and manage a range of administrative activities, ensuring that work is presented to a high standard and delivered within a timely manner. The postholder will require excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task.

Office Assistant - Qualifications Policy and Reform

Band 1 £19,240 - £22,500 per annum
